Stones Crash Homes, Return to Hyperbowl

In the first half, the Flint Stones scored on all but one possession while the Mobile Homes turned the ball over with interceptions twice and were forced to punt on every other possession but one ended by the clock for halftime. That was the difference in the game, as Mobile's 10 fourth-quarter points only prevented the embarrassment of a shutout. The Stones scored only one TD, a 7-yard run by RB Eddie Pus, but kicker Oodleson Oodles made four of his five field goal attempts, to pay off in points for Flint winning the field position battle. Mobile dominated the rushing game, limiting Flint's Pus to 43 yards and the other Stones to a net 4 yards, while their own Sawyer Legov gained 76 yards and Torpedo Lovecraft ran for 88 yards and a TD. But Flint QB Osborne Lucky completed 19 of 36 passes for 250 yards. His two big targets were TE Ty Twad, who had 4 catches for 111 yards, and WR Roy El Pain, who had 12 catches for 125 yards. The Stones prevented Mobile from becoming yet another wild card team to reach the Hyperbowl, something the Stones did last year. Flint is going to their third Hyperbowl. They won against Spokane in 1993 and lost last year to Las Vegas. Flint is the first team since Washington in 1990 to return to the Hyperbowl the year after losing it. They hope to repeat Washington's feat of winning such a return, and to reverse last year's decision, since they will face the Las Vegas Sinners in the first Hyperbowl rematch in consecutive years.

Sinners Step over Gila Monsters for Hyperbowl Rematch

The Las Vegas Sinners have for the second straight year made the Hyperbowl as a wildcard team. The defending league champions will return for a rematch with the Flint Stones, whom they defeated 36-17, with the bonus of being the home team, as the Hyperbowl is in Las Vegas due to their victory last year. Nashville was the last team to win a home Hyperbowl in 1997. The Sinners turned away the Hyperbowl's most frequent participant. Flagstaff was vying for their eighth appearance in the league championship game, and until the end of the first half of this conference championship, it was a dead heat for who would get another Hyperbowl. The teams tugged to a 6-6 tie on four field goals, until Sinner QB Andy Christ ran 30 yards to the end zone on the first half's last play. After trading punts in the second half, the Sinners widened the gap on a 9-play, 67-yard drive capped by Christ's 5-yard TD pass to WR Travis Tee. The first play of the drive was an incomplete pass, but then it was only forward motion, including 5 completions. On the drive, WR Jason Rainbows had catches of 18, 9 and 11 yards, and ran twice. Running back Drew Blood had a 6-yard catch, and Christ ran for 7 yards. The Gila Monsters answered with a TD drive of their own, QB Yves Ho doing his Christ impersonation by passing and then finishing off with a 10-yard TD run. But with the score at 20-13, the Sinners dug in and held off the Gila Monsters for the fourth quarter. Both teams are famous for not being as dominant as their potential, but it was Flagstaff's failure to finish off opponents that worked in the Sinners' favor.
