Waves Dash ProjectsThe Macon Waves scored on two successive drives to end the game. After TE Dean Bat caught a 3-yard TD pass and the extra point tied the game, the Waves forced Manhattan to three downs and a punt, and drove to Oolong Gater's 44 yard field goal to win it. Macon QB Boyd Bwane had a 13-yard run on the winning drive, to punctuate a performance that upstaged his illustrious counterpart's, Manhattan's Lance Boils. Bwane threw for 275 yards and 2 TDs, while the Waves held Boils to a relatively modest 239 yards and 2 TDs. Despite that, Wall was the real thorn in Manhattan's side, chucking away at their defense if not exactly burning them. Macon RB Moe Lester rushed for 78 yards. Still, the Projects dominated the game for more than three quarters, and Macon's turnaround was astonishing for the course of the season, in which Boils led Manhattan roaring back to league prominence after failing to make the playoffs last year. While the New Jersies eclipsed the Projects, Manhattan was still 14-1, but now have crashed out of the playoffs again as soon as they got back. The Waves' win will send them to New Jersey and the Maine Attractions to Montgomery. |

Linemen Run into BunchPayne Indiass probably didn't want to make anything out of facing Hollis Assaway, again, but now he'll have to. The two were opponents in three consecutive college championship games in the SCAB, and Assaway got the better of Indiass two out of those. Now, just as Wichita has ascended to perennial contention in the West, with Las Vegas declining, Assaway and the Iowa Bunch arrive and knock them off. Indiass threw for 227 yards, to just 167 for Iowa's Tab Lloyd, but he was picked off twice by the Bunch, who also used a better rushing game to keep the ball away from Indiass. Iowa rookie RB Orson DeWater rushed for 80 yards, RB Nick Romancer added 37 and a TD. While Wichita's wide receiver tandem or DeFlore and Ringo Fire outmatched Iowa's of Assaway and Sawyer Hiney, Iowa TE Gay Sailor was instrumental with his 5-yard TD catch in the 2nd quarter to put Iowa up 16-7 right after Wichita had scored to catch up. Iowa must now travel to face division foe Casper. |
