Attractions Slam into ProjectsManhattan's longtime kicker Luigi Board found himself the unlikely hero of an unlikely game between his perennial Eastern Conference power and the newest conference heavyweight. These two teams were expected to generate offense, even against each other, but it turned into a defensive slugfest. Manhattan QB Lance Boils, who has just matched legendary Luke Warm for the number of All-East Team QB selections and got his second MVP award, was not allowed by Maine an MVP performance. He completed only 7 of 21 passes for 87 yards! Although Boils rushed for 46 yards, that was a mixed result as leading the team. The Projects were held to just 36 net yards otherwise. Maine was able to dominate in yardage, at least that way affirming their regular season dominance, but not by faring much better. QB Jock Rash threw for only 125 yards. Hell and veteran RB Xavier Breath were the major offensive force of the game, with Breath adding 61 yards rushing. But Breath will still not make it to the Hyperbowl, and there are many speculating this may be his last attempt. Boils lives on for another chance to win a Hyperbowl. And it's all thanks to Board, who was successful on all three of his field goal attempts, including two from 50 yards! That was especially significant in that Manhattan did not move the ball as well as Maine. Manhattan must now travel to Boston and the result sends Mobile to New Jersey. |

Bullets Catch Gila MonstersDodge avoided the same sort of game as the Eastern Conference wildcard, a field goal battle, when it erupted for three TDs in the 4th quarter to put away Flagstaff. The Gila Monsters were without veteran rushing star Carlo DeChix, but their new star, Shlomo Replay, nearly took the whole task on his shoulders. Flagstaff defensive play had insured a 9-3 lead until the first play of the 4th quarter, when Dodge RB Robin Cradles scored on a 16-yard pass play from QB Tyrone Essores. After holding the Gila Monsters to three and out, the Bullets scored on the next possession, rushing for all but two plays, one of them the biggest, a 20-yard pass to WR Nestor Vipers to the Flagstaff 1-yard line. Faq-Yusef scored on the next play, to cap off his Dodge-leading rushing game. The Bullets added one more round of insurance, forcing Flagstaff out and scoring again, a 14-yard pass to TE Gabbin Nuisance, after Faq-Yusef led the charge with runs of 11 and 9 yards. Dodge will now go to Casper to face the team with the league's best record. |
