Projects Tower over StranglersSebastian Ophuls won't get past Lance Boils to the Hyperbowl, but it was a boost from the Manhattan QB's running back Duane DeTubb that did it. The veteran rusher stepped up big in this playoff game, to give himself another chance at the Hyperbowl as well as Boils. This despite the fact the young Boston QB led his team's effort, at least in rushing. Once again Manhattan's defense proved the deciding factor, shutting down the Stranglers even better, in yardage, than they did Maine, although they allowed one more point. Boils threw for 199 yards and 2 TDs, which wasn't particulary impressive, but DeTubb helped keep Manhattan in control of possession and field position. Manhattan WR Ezra Doctrine-House had 83 yards to lead all receivers, including Boston star Luke St. Everything. The Projects now head to their 7th Eastern Conference Championship, the first since 2004. |

Jersies Smother HomesThe New Jersies confirmed their regular season win over Mobile, a 38-13 decision that many thought would mean nothing for this playoff confrontation. The Jersies were even more dominant. The Homes simply had no answer for all-everything TE Bud Ugly. He had the first 3 TDs of the game, the third capping off a drive to begin the 3rd quarter and that had Mobile put away. QB Upton O'Good completed 26 of 38 passes for 272 yards, and Hyam D. Wahlroos led all rushers with 55 yards, something of surprise considering New Jersies star running back Juan Moorehead was supposed to be a factor of their dominance. The New Jersies were even more impressive defensively, holding the league's leading receiver, WR Guy Nicologi to one catch for 5 yards, and Mobile to just 137 yards passing and 16 net yards rushing. The New Jersises return to the Eastern Conference Championship where they lost last year, and for a rematch with division rival Manhattan, whom they edged by one point in the season finale to win the division, in a game considered one of the best of the season. |

Bullets Riddle GhostsDodge pulled off an opportunistic upset of the team with the best record in the league, despite the winged Ghosts still managing to dominate play. Casper's loss of RB Orson Buggy to injury was supposed to make them more vulnerable, but WR I.B. Long, QB Peter Andy Woolf and RB Jock Kitsch were all game leaders in there respective stat categories. And K Lee Kittysplit completed 3 of 4 field goals attemtps. The trouble was, the Bullets scored TDs, the first on a 10-yard run by Western Conference leading rusher Hugo Faq-Yusef, the second just moments later off a blocked Casper punt. In between those, Dodge added a field goal following a Woolf fumble. Dodge led led 17-3 at the half on that string of scores and held on, adding insurance on a TD pass WR to Darren Feet in the 4th quarter after he gained 23 yards on a reverse on the drive. For the second year in a row Casper goes down in the playoffs after a dominant season, and Dodge now goes to the Western Conference Championship with the worst record in the playoffs. It's the 6th Championship for Dodge, but the first since 1991. |

Rats Pack up JacksBaton Rouge and Monterey traded touchdown drives to start the game, but from there the Swamp Rats separated from four-time Hyperbowl champion Monterey. The Jacks are no longer the big man on the Western campus, and after an upset loss neither is Casper, the team that ended Baton Rouge's undefeated campaign in the regular season. Swamp Rat QB Nolan Void was a big factor in the win, just as he was for Baton Rouge's best season since 1980 when they won the Hyprebowl. He threw for 253 yards and a TD, and rushed for 52 and a TD. But it was WR Stan Byer-Mann who had perhaps the most impressive performance of anyone in this round of the playoffs. Although Byer-Mann was one of Baton Rouge's biggest threats, it was Monterey WR Ira Fuse who was expected to dominate in a contest with Byer-Mann. While RB Buster Hymen did lead the Monterey offense, Baton Rouge minimized him and kept the Jacks from much else. With Casper losing, Baton Rouge will get to host the Conference Championship. |
