Peter Dagger discovered thereafter that he was being tagged, even as he himself had been snooping and, being a wily dick, returneth unto the bed of Mary Underbunny and, after they had hugged and it was good for both of them, they did light cigarettes and Peter did say unto Mary, I'm being tailed.
Behold, also, in another bed Buck Tool did say unto Helm Cubeturner, This man knows I'm onto him, whereupon Helm Cubeturner schemed and did tell Buck Tool of his scheming and the scheming was to lure Peter Dick Dagger ever so carefully by not seeming to lure him, seeing how he was so clever and he did lick up a good chase.
For as two cats sniffeth at the private parts and bristle a little and seem wary of each other did Buck and Peter seem to be as they began their snooping of each other, but yea did they grow fond of each other by these things.
And it was that their snooping became as a dance, like this: first did Peter Dagger follow Buck Tool too closely so as to seem less clever; after that did Buck Tool lay an obvious trap so that Dagger would not fall for it; but Dagger did elaborate guesswork and fell for the trap; then did Buck Tool not catch him so as to baffle and befuddle him; nextly did Dagger work himself out to be the hunted; but it was that Buck Tool pretended not to notice and jumpeth off a bridge, whereupon Peter Dagger did pretend to have lost her trail.
Then it came to pass that Buck Tool laid down a string of clues that was far too waggled for anyone but Dagger and Peter Dagger did pick up on these clues, extreme though they were in their difficulty; he did follow this prickly path fairly rejoicing in its complexity, but verily he pretendeth to read the clues wrongly and followeth them to the wrong time and the wrong place.
