While defending league champion Heroes of Polar Exploration trudged through an undefeated season, and the longest extant winning streak, DeSade S&M nominally ascended the throne, holding the number one ranking in the I.P. poll from pre-season to final season poll. DeSade also went undefeated, knocking off previously unbeaten conference rival Northwestsoutheastern on the last week of the season. The Leathermen crowded the stat charts with the most productive offense in the SCAB. They had the top rushing and passing offense, top quarterback in passing and total offense, and both running backs and all three starting receivers ranked in their respective category top tens. As the tournament begins, DeSade and HPEMC are the main attraction. While Birddrops Aeronautics fell short of their first Little 10 title, upstaged by the return of Kootsville Tech, they still achieved their best season and the distinction of a Demetrius Award-winning player. Quarterback Boyd Bwane edged HPEMC running back Boots Walken for the honor, continuing the string of quarterback recipients since 1987 (Whooperville A&M RB Curtis Interruptis was the last non-quarterback). Walken gathered much support in the last part of the season as he became the nation's leading scorer and received a couple of Player of the Week citations. But Bwane's earlier citations were enough to keep his point total above Walken's. A moderate power shift in the Non Conference brought Oxherd and Old Diehard to the tournament, the first time for each, while traditional powers UPRNY and South Paw, as well as last year's upstart Lady Warship, fell into the bottom half of the conference, all of them, as well as Bleeding Heart, failing to make post-season. Bunyan rebounded from its steep fall in the Valley (10 Clan), making fourth place after last year's last-place finish. But archrival and one-time power Mountain Valley took the plunge this year, dropping to ninth. Other notable turns: Bigfoot's third-place finish in the Valley, while UFO dropped to a tie for fifth; defending Little 10 co-champ Brimstone's fifth-place finish, hastened by losing their first three conference games, and Whooperville A&M's plummet to a last place tie with Corncob, more dramatic than even Bunyan's fall. Coach General Beany of Kootsville Tech won his 200th game, on the 11th week against Brimstone.
